 ependence day\, celebrating the emancipation of enslaved people in America
 . Even though the Emancipation Proclamation was made effective in 1863\, i
 t was not implemented in places still under Confederate control. On June 1
 9\, 1865 enslaved African Americans in Galveston Bay\, Texas\, were notifi
 ed by the arrival of Union troops that they were free by executive decree.
 \n\nThis training will be held in person at the CASA office and virtually 
 via Microsoft Teams. It will be led by Manager of Volunteer Recruitment an
 d Community Engagement Ashley Huggans. When you arrive\, please enter thro
 ugh the front door. Parking is available on the street\, in the small lot 
 behind CASA's office\, or in Family Court Guest Parking Lot B on Cherry St
 reet. Snacks will be provided.\n\nPlease invite family or friends who'd be
  interested in learning about Juneteenth to attend this training with you.
