Dividing Lines: A History of Segregation in Kansas City
Mark your calendars for an upcoming continuing education opportunity to discuss the driving tour, Dividing Lines: A History of Segregation in Kansas City, on Thursday, November 14, from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the CASA office. Please participate in the Dividing Lines driving tour or watch the virtual tour before then so we can discuss together.
Dividing Lines is a driving tour of the history of residential segregation and its far-reaching impacts. By highlighting the history of segregation in Kansas City, Dividing Lines sheds light on the governmental policies and individual actions which decimated Black neighborhoods all over the United States. The tour follows a route with turn-by-turn directions and uses GPS to play audio automatically at the right time and place. It is designed so that you can safely drive through the city at your own pace while hearing stories about each area you travel through. Download the tour for free via VoiceMap. If you can't drive the tour route, you can watch a virtual tour from the Johnson County Library.
