Join Jackson County CASA to learn more about the intersection of Juneteenth and Child Welfare. Juneteenth marks our country's second independence day, celebrating the emancipation of enslaved people in America. Even though the Emancipation Proclamation was made effective in 1863, it was not implemented in places still under Confederate control. On June 19, 1865 enslaved African Americans in Galveston Bay, Texas, were notified by the arrival of Union troops that they were free by executive decree.

This training will be held in person at the CASA office and virtually via Microsoft Teams. It will be led by Manager of Volunteer Recruitment and Community Engagement Ashley Huggans. When you arrive, please enter through the front door. Parking is available on the street, in the small lot behind CASA's office, or in Family Court Guest Parking Lot B on Cherry Street. Snacks will be provided.

Please invite family or friends who'd be interested in learning about Juneteenth to attend this training with you. We hope to see you there! RSVP and access the link to join on Evite or by emailing kstrickler@casakc.org
